What We Did
Directly contracted by the University Hospital of North Tees, Geoffrey Robinson delivered a new build and refurb
project within a live hospital environment. The project was secured via a competitive quotation procedure, evidencing our resource capabilities and competitive costing.
Additional to the extensive refurbishment works committed within the A&E and day case areas, our build department were engaged regarding the development of a new public entrance. Associated with development of the access route,
objectives were to allow movement between A&E, Children’s A&E, and Urgent Care.
Facilitating these requirements, an additional single storey extension was constructed, connecting the new entrance with elements of the A&E department, and a further infill of an existing courtyard was constructed to expand day case recovery.
While delivering this project, logistics posed a particular risk, as hospital operations were to continue undisrupted, and the new entrance was sited alongside emergency services. As such, accessibility to the site was limited and required flexible management to accommodate continued operation of hospital departments. Despite these constraints, successful phasing ensured completion of the project, and acquisition of objectives outlined by the University Hospital of North Tees during early engagement.
