Transforming Patient Care at University Hospital of North Tees – Emergency Assessment Unit

Geoffrey Robinson has delivered a landmark £1.3 million project to upgrade the hospital’s urgent care facilities on behalf of our valued client NTH Solutions.

The project has enabled the hospital to continue its strong performance in emergency care, supporting quicker assessment, treatment and throughput for patients. The improved environment also means staff are better positioned to deliver high quality care.

The project includes a strategic courtyard infill, creating additional treatment rooms and a modern waiting area. Existing spaces are being reconfigured to maximise efficiency and streamline patient flow throughout the unit.

To boost capacity, an outdoor courtyard was transformed into a fit-for-purpose clinical environment, featuring multiple treatment and chair spaces along with the installation of energy-efficient systems.

The scheme has been designed with collaboration at its core, with clinical teams, designers, and contractors working closely to ensure the new environment meets both patient and staff needs.

Now complete the unit has expanded from eight treatment areas to eighteen dedicated spaces, including new waiting areas, triage rooms, a doctors’ office, and integrated monitoring systems, all aimed at improving the patient experience and supporting high-quality care delivery.

A huge thank-you to everyone involved – the clinical teams, contractors, design, development and delivery teams on site.
